Website cleanup: what changed, and what the scores mean

A transparent technical audit example using The Digital Academy’s own WordPress website. These results describe crawler findings and website maintenance, not client revenue or organic traffic growth.

The starting point

The earlier SE Ranking crawl reported a technical health score of 75/100, with 242 errors and 193 warnings. The issues included inconsistent URLs and metadata, broken references and overlapping SEO plugin output.

What we changed

  • Standardised internal URLs and repaired stale links.
  • Corrected canonical and sitemap consistency around the non-www domain.
  • Kept Yoast as the main source of SEO metadata and schema, reducing overlapping output from another plugin.
  • Repaired image references, added relevant redirects and archived imported demonstration content.
  • Updated the installed software and checked WordPress Site Health.

The measured result

The follow-up SE Ranking crawl on 25 October 2026, completed at 16:37 GMT, reported 92/100, zero errors and 32 warnings across 148 URLs. It also reported 515 notices, so the website was not issue-free. WordPress Site Health showed no critical issues, with two remaining hosting recommendations.

What this does and does not demonstrate

The before-and-after figures come from SE Ranking technical crawls. Scores depend on the tool’s checks, crawl coverage and settings; they are not directly comparable to PageSpeed scores or Google rankings.

We have not established an increase in organic traffic, enquiries, bookings or revenue from these changes. That requires reliable analytics and conversion measurement over time, with other influences considered.

What remains

Review remaining warnings and notices, improve service content and internal links, verify measurement access and monitor the site as new content is published. Subsequent work may change the counts shown here; this is a dated snapshot of the cleanup.

Use an audit to choose the next action

A useful audit separates confirmed defects from suggestions and prioritises work that helps visitors. Start with the free digital marketing audit, then explore website content and SEO or social media support.
